On June 14, 2007, Rhode Island passed
a law stating that fetus with a gestation age of at least 20 weeks
will be able to receive birth certificates. A woman by the name
of Melissa led the charge in Rhode Island when she had a stillborn.
Words cannot describe the amount of gratitude we owe her, not to mention
what the entire state of Rhode Island owes her.
Thanks to her efforts, Kyle and many other children will now "exist"
in the eyes of the state.
While they are still in the process of finalizing
procedures so that the birth certificates can be created we are hoping
that we will have Kyle's by this year's walk.
We call the Rhode Island Vital records department every 3 weeks to
find out what stage there at and when we can go down to get one.
As news becomes available we will post on our site.
